Door Handle

the front door.

Kick Back and MANA are partnering to deliver The Front Door. We're innovating for change, working together to ensure no young person in Tāmaki ever has to spend a night on the street!

what is The Front Door?

“Te Ara o te Aroha – Love is the Way”

Our Vision is to establish the first Immediate Accommodation facility for rangatahi experiencing homelessness. The Front Door will be a safe, supported alternative to emergency accommodation, that provides full 24/7 wrap around support, alongside a front door to services and support for rangatahi experiencing homelessness in Tāmaki Makaurau. Our dream is that every young person at-risk of experiencing homelessness in Tāmaki knows where to go to get help, and that young people receive the support they need to ensure their experiences of homelessness are rare, brief and non-reoccurring.

brief overview.

Currently, there is no ‘Front Door’ for rangatahi experiencing homelessness in Tāmaki Makaurau. This means rangatahi often slip through the cracks, struggling to get connected to services and support that could help them, simply because they do not know where to go.

The Front Door will be a visible and literal front door for rangatahi, somewhere safe rangatahi can come to seek advice and gain support. The Front Door will be open 24/7 and will be a space of collaboration and connection for rangatahi, and the sector at large.

Currently there is little to no safe, supported Immediate accommodation designed to meet the needs of rangatahi with high and complex needs. Emergency accommodation is not safe, with some rangatahi reporting feeling safer on the streets than in a motel . The Front Door will provide safe, supported, Immediate Accommodation.
